Passengers at Albrecht Dürer Airport Nürnberg can look forward to visiting an all yours shop from next year on. The all yours concept, which was developed by smartseller, merges duty-free, food service, and convenience into a single unit. At Nuremberg, the individual elements are also going to be combined into an open, integrated concept, for which the previous areas are to be newly designed and expanded to a size of 1,200 m². A highlight is set to be the strong regional connection to Nuremberg and the region of Franconia, which is also going to see itself reflected in the range of food and drink on offer.
For the running of the new all yours retail space, smartseller and Airport Nürnberg have founded a new joint venture as of today. Both parties hold a 50 percent stake each and the agreement will enter into force on January 1, 2024, subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.
The All Clear for New Company
The Duty Free & Travel Value shops are currently still operated by the airport itself. The Managing Director of the new company smartseller nürnberg GmbH & Co. KG is going to be Sebastian Schäfer, who is currently manager of the airport’s own shops. The acting representatives of the company will be Klaus Dotzauer, Commercial Director of Flughafen Nürnberg GmbH and Managing Director of the airport subsidiary Flughafen Nürnberg Service GmbH, and Karl Niendorf, Managing Director smartseller. smartseller, a joint venture established between Gebr. Heinemann and the travel food service chain casualfood in 2020, offers added value to small and medium-sized regional airports by combining travel retail, food & beverage, and convenience. Following the success of the first shops in Ljubljana (Slovenia), Münster/Osnabrück and Leipzig/Halle, the fourth all yours shop, designed and run by smartseller, will open in Nuremberg.
A Partnership at Eye Level
“smartseller stands for long-term and trustful partnerships. The collaboration on this joint venture has been planned for a term of at least ten years. Both parties are very happy with the result. It has been demonstrated once again that smartseller is the ideal partner for medium-sized airports because we are prepared to develop an individual solution together at all times. This has been a success as well and together we are going to make the offer even more attractive for travelers,” says Karl Niendorf on the occasion of the signing of the contract.
Klaus Dotzauer from Airport Nürnberg adds: “Travelers love to go shopping in the Duty Free shop in Nuremberg. The renovation of the shop and the integrated concept mean that we are succeeding in presenting the range of products for passengers in a more varied and comprehensive way in a space that already exists. Together with smartseller, we are going to continue to improve the shopping and travel experience of our passengers.”
